Marine Deisel Engine Workshop
Great Lakes Sailing School offers a technical workshop based on Dennison Berwick’s book “Marine Diesel Basics, part 1”.
Dennison Berwick: “The aim is not to make marine mechanics in one day or even to try to cover maintenance in one day – but rather, to help students get over feelings of intimidation and feeling overwhelmed. I believe the simple, clear drawings in the book help with this – and this is something many reviewers have commented on.
This is a one day workshop.
We will spend the morning in a classroom setting explaining the basics – how a diesel engine works, importance of lubrication, the cooling circuit etc.,
After lunch, we will learn aboard a boat doing a physical inspection. No dismantling – just the basics. We will use question sheets to get you to think about and explore the engine. There will be time to talk and ask question through out the workshop.
$340 per person
Each student will keep a copy of Dennison Berwick’s book “Marine Diesel Basics, part 1” as review material.
