No previous sailing experience is required. We conduct our introductory sailing lessons primarily in Toronto Outer Harbour, providing a convenient and sheltered environment for beginners.
Your lesson begins with a short safety briefing and an introduction to the basic principles of sailing. You will then spend approximately two hours sailing on Lake Ontario with an experienced instructor. During the lesson, you may participate in boat handling as much or as little as you wish. You can take the helm, help trim the sails, learn how the boat is controlled, or simply relax and enjoy the scenery.
This introductory sailing experience is also an excellent opportunity to ask questions about sailing, Sail Canada courses, cruising, boat ownership, and other sailing-related topics. You will meet other people who share your interest in learning new skills and discovering the freedom of sailing.
Whether you are considering future sailing lessons or simply want to try something new, this course offers a safe and enjoyable introduction to the world of sailing.
Group size and duration
We will take groups of 2 to 4 people out on the water for 2 hours. Introduction to Sailing is all on the boat. After a short safety briefing, we will sail around Toronto Outer Harbour. Students will have the opportunity to participate in boat handling or relax and look around.
Price
Price starts at $150 per person per lesson. A standard lesson is 2 hours long.
If you would like to have a lesson with no other participants, the price is $250 per person per lesson. A standard lesson is 2 hours long.
Students can credit $75 or $100 of the full course fee to the Basic Cruising Standard course. Cannot combine with any other offer.
Prerequisites
None. Just an able body and a willing spirit.
Schedule
There is no set schedule. Every group can create a custom schedule if there are 2 or more students requesting the same time.

Every weekday and weekend, lessons start at 10:30. Normally, there will be no lessons on Mondays, but they could be run on special request.
